Practice
As the Hub develops, this work will expand in response to emerging evidence and partner needs.
Translating Evidence into Practice
The Digital Determinants of Health Hub works with practitioners, organisations and systems to support the translation of research evidence into meaningful, ethical and context-sensitive action.
We recognise that evidence does not move directly into practice. Translation requires interpretation, adaptation and careful consideration of real-world constraints. Our approach emphasises collaboration with practitioners and communities, attention to equity, and ongoing evaluation to ensure that evidence-informed action is both effective and responsible.
This work complements the Hub’s policy engagement by supporting practical application in settings where young people live, learn and receive support.
Education & Schools
Digital environments increasingly shape young people’s wellbeing, learning and social relationships. The Hub works with education partners to support evidence-informed understanding of these influences and their implications for safeguarding, wellbeing and equity.
Rather than prescribing solutions, we work alongside educators, school leaders, local authorities and education-focused organisations to help interpret emerging evidence in ways that are age-appropriate, feasible and sensitive to the realities of educational settings. This includes supporting discussions around digital wellbeing strategies, online harms, and responses to evolving platform and policy landscapes.
Our engagement with education partners prioritises collaboration, contextual understanding and alignment with existing safeguarding and support structures.
Education partners interested in evidence-informed collaboration are encouraged to get in touch.
Third Sector & NGOs
Third-sector organisations play a vital role in supporting young people and families, particularly in communities experiencing disadvantage. The Hub partners with charities, community organisations and NGOs to ensure that research reflects lived experience and is relevant to frontline practice.
We work collaboratively to support co-design, interpretation of findings, and exploration of how evidence can inform programmes, services and advocacy. These partnerships help ensure that research is grounded in real-world contexts and that inequalities in exposure, risk and protection are recognised and addressed.
Equity, inclusion and respect for delivery expertise are central to how we engage with third-sector partners.
Third-sector organisations interested in collaboration or co-design can explore partnership opportunities with the Hub.
Implementation & Evaluation
Understanding impact requires more than identifying what works. The Hub applies robust implementation and evaluation approaches to assess what works, for whom, and under what conditions, with particular attention to equity and unintended consequences.
Drawing on expertise in causal inference, mixed-methods research and evaluation science, we support the assessment of interventions, programmes and policy initiatives across diverse settings. This includes examining variation in effects across populations, contexts and digital environments, and supporting learning that can inform adaptation and scale-up.
Our approach to implementation and evaluation is designed to strengthen evidence use while recognising the complexity of real-world systems.
